  Great Technology, good price 2006-10-27

A wise investment for any diagnostician in moisture and mold inspection.
Unit is easy to use and caturing photos is a snap. Flir offers great training
programs as well. Screen resolution could be better. Big disadvantage is
lacking a screen that rotates. Depening on where you are investigating,
(e.g. ceiling plenum) the fixed screen can get awkward. Also someone
needs to combine a standard digital camera with an IR camera so you can
take comparison shots.

  Moisture Intrusion Survey 2006-10-12

After our experiences doing post-hurricane assessments, we decided that
the infrared camera would be a wise investment. After hurricanes Ivan
and Dennis, we had moisture intrusion in about 30 of our buildings, and
serious moisture damage in a dozen. We had to do a lot of “poking” and
scanning with moisture meters.

Even without hurricanes this year, in just 6 months, the camera has
already half-paid for itself by helping us detect and trace moisture from
roof leaks during construction projects, HVAC problems and other
miscellaneous moisture intrusions.

The Florida State Risk Management office is encouraging the use of
infrared camera documentation, along with the usual forms and normal
digital pictures, for post-disaster insurance claims. Now we are ready,
more than ever, to quickly survey our buildings room-by-room and find
our moisture problems.

I am justifying the cost of the camera by saying that if spending the
$10,000 helped ward off a major hurricane in our area this year, it was
well worth it!

We like the product, long range on the battery life and the consistency of
application. It's a good indicator. Cost of IR tool was reasonable.

We purchased this camera about a year and a half ago to enter the field of
infrared auditing after testing 2 competing brands. This camera has the
advantage the user being able to input relevant data to tune the photos
which is very helpful if thermograms are used as evidentiary
documentation. It's easy to operate and has never given me any
problems, I would highly recommend this camera, it’s lightweight and
performs well in the field. The company along with ITC also offers
excellent training.
